Last Friday was a dark day in the history of Hollywood. We lost our beloved Chadwick Boseman on August 28. The Black Panther actor was suffering from colon cancer. He kept the news to himself for as long as 4 years. While the moviegoers, as well as the Marvel fans, are shattered, our T’Challa himself was hopeful that he would overcome this barrier.
For as long as a week before his death, Chadwick was sure and hopeful that he would survive this battle. He had so much to give to the world. From being the kindest person to being the first lead black superhero – Boseman was truly a king.
In the worst turn of events, Marvel President Kevin Fiege on Friday received an urgent email. It was about Chadwick Boseman’s deteriorating health. As per The Hollywood Reporter, by the time, he opened the mail, our Black Panther had already passed away, “sending shock waves through Disney and the tight-knit Marvel Cinematic Universe.” News of his battle with cancer was known to only a handful of people, apart from the family.

But is Marvel worried about the future of Black Panther? Fans have made it clear that they want no replacement. They would instead be okay with T’Challa’s sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) the new leading superhero.
The same has been revealed by a source close to the development. “The company (Marvel) is processing its grief and that its focus at this stage is to pay tribute to Boseman and not on the making of a Black Panther sequel. Only a handful of non-family members knew that Boseman was sick, including producing partner Logan Coles, longtime agent Michael Greene, trainer Addison Henderson and 42 director Brian Helgeland — with varying degrees of knowledge about the severity of the actor’s condition. No one involved with Black Panther was aware.”
Chadwick Boseman was gearing up for the prep of Black Panther 2. The late actor was hoping and convinced that he could win the battle against cancer. He planned a week before to gain weight again to step into the shoes of his character. The shooting was supposed to begin in September.
Unfortunately, everything remains uncertain now.
