In the 9 season run of the show, Kevin and Erin’s relationship happened to be the most puzzling aspect of the show. For the unaware, Brian Baumgartner hosts a podcast titled An Oral History Of The Office. It was here where he revealed that he had proposed that his character Kevin Malone and Erin Hannon played by Ellie Kemper date.
Brian confessed all of this while he was in a conversation with Ellie. As per Entertainment Weekly, he said, “Do you know that I pitched Kevin and Erin getting together? I think that would be a pretty reasonable relationship.”

“I went up to the writers’ room, and I said, ‘If Kevin could mature just a little, there was something about their energy that I thought was right’. Their energies matched in a weird way,” The Office actor added.
After listening to this Ellie Kemper aka Erin said that she loves the pitch and thought it was the perfect story. To which Brian replied, “Sadly, we never got to witness the great love story that Kevin and Erin could have been.”
