Being a national holiday, Independence Day has proved to be huge at the Indian box office. Over the years, many big Bollywood films have made it to the cinemas on I Day or around it. And the best part is that most of them have totally worked at the box office.

As the world is still struggling with pandemic this year, India too is no different and has seen no theatrical release on this Independence Day. Let’s take a look at the highest I-day grossers so far:

1) Mission Mangal

Akshay Kumar’s first 200 crores grosser, Mission Mangal released at the box office with huge expectations on Independence Day 2019. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the film also had Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen & Sharman Joshi in main roles.

Mission Mangal is the highest-grossing Independence Day release of Bollywood.
