There is no doubt that Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson are legends in the music industry. But did you know the mega musicians shared a brief but intense friendship? Well, this was just before MJ made music history.
Well, in a 1983 Rolling Stone magazine article MJ said that he was a big Freddie Mercury fan. For the unversed, during that time, Jackson was reportedly spotted backstage at one of Queen shows when he made this revelation.
In a 1983 interview, talking about Michael Jackson Freddie Mercury said, “In the early days, three, four years ago, he used to come and see our shows at the Forum in LA. I guess he likes us. So I got to meet him and he kept coming to see us. We started talking.”

Freddie Mercury further said that he recollects going to dinner with him. He added that he thinks MJ preferred staying at home than coming out.
He continued saying, “That’s not me. I wouldn’t do that, I’d be bored to death. I have to go out every night. I hate staying in one room for too long anyway. I like to keep moving. I don’t know, I guess, it’s just because he started when he was very young.”
In the interview, Freddie Mercury went on to say, “When you think about it, when I’m talking to him I think ‘My God, he’s 25 and I’m 37, yet he’s been in the business almost longer than I have. For me, it’s sort of frightening. You think, ‘Somebody who’s 22 or 25 or just starting out or whatever and I could teach him a few tricks. But not Michael.”
In the interview, Freddie made a startling revelation. He said that he was almost set to feature in Michael Jackson’s Thriller album that released the previous year, 1982. The album featured British legend, Paul McCartney.
