Tenet: Christopher Nolan Bought A Huge Boeing 747 Plane Just To Blow It Up

Tenet director Christopher Nolan’s dedication towards his work needs no introduction. His shoot process is often dug to find amusing and mind-boggling trivia. One such about Tenet is already out. Nolan legit bought a Boeing 747 plane just to blow it up, and nothing else. Can you believe that? Below is the maverick filmmakers narrating it himself.

Tenet, which has been in the making for quite some time now, took the globe as a whole by storm with its trailer. The trailer released on May 21, 2020, and was a hit in no time. Christopher Nolan has now opened up on how he bought a Boeing 747 Plane for a crucial sequence in the film just to blow it up. He also explained why he did not opt for CGI or a miniature shooting process.

Talking to Total Film Magazine about the same said, “I planned to do it using miniatures and set-piece builds and a combination of visual effects and all the rest. However, while scouting for locations in Victorville, California, the team discovered a massive array of old planes.”

Further stating why it was a good idea to buy the plane rather than going for substitutes, he added, “[It was] actually be more efficient to buy a real plane of the real size, and perform this sequence for real in-camera, rather than build miniatures or go the CG route.”

Having said that the Tenet director realises that it was quite an impulsive shopping. Addressing the same fact he said, “It’s a strange thing to talk about – a kind of impulse buying, I suppose. But we kind of did, and it worked very well, with Scott Fisher, our special-effects supervisor, and Nathan Crowley, the production designer, figuring out how to pull off this big sequence in camera. It was a very exciting thing to be a part of.”

Meanwhile, Tenet directed by Christopher Nolan is very much a global project. It stars Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Dimple Kapadia, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The film that is shot in over seven countries has a plot of espionage on a mission who learns something about the real-time.

The film is originally set for a July 17, 2020 release, but the pandemic has affected the complete schedule of all the industries. Any update on this note is awaited.
